NEW: 5 for Friday’s!

With a goal of making my posts more “to the point,” today I am introducing my new feature “5 for Friday’s.” What is #5forFriday you might ask? Well it is 5 interesting things I came across or thought of while running or working out over the previous 7 days…plus an assortment of pictures taken along the way. So here is the first addition of #5forFriday!

NUMBER ONE: It all Starts in the left! This came to me while running on Tuesday. My injuries this year are all on the left side of my body! The left leg has a sore Achilles and soleus muscle. A muscle in my lower back is also on the left side (usually is bothered when I am dehydrated). And my left foot is now sore! Nothing amazingly hurts on the right side. What the heck! I am guessing that there is a bigger issue at hand here with my running style or as I posited yesterday, perhaps my PsA is acting up!

NUMBER TWO: Are taking pictures a distraction? This past week, my normal volume of pics were down in number. This is largely blamed on the fact that I did not run on Tuesday or Todsy and on Monday I only took a few while running fast through the Navy yard. I wonder if that taking pictures, a process that involves stopping my run and then taking the “shot,” is becoming counterproductive to my training regiment. While pics are nice to have, perhaps the run should get more focus allowing me to reach my continuous goal of lower times!

NUMBER THREE: Tripped up on the Soccer field! On Tuesday night, I played my first soccer game competitively (never mind coaching against little kids) and all the running I have done over the past year was on display. My wind was strong, I had a great push behind my sprints and overall, I felt great! Two days later…not so much. The body is still recovering from the game and while I ran through it yesterday, today I am still feeling the pains. Better stretching needed I think! Round two next Tuesday!

NUMBER FOUR: Speaking One’s Mind! This morning while driving into work, while listening to the news about the latest shots the people are taking at each other in politics, as well after reading the article from Justin Stone yesterday, again his morning, I pledge right now to be honest and truthful on this blog! There is not going to be BS coming from me. While I test products and write race reviews, you will get the whole truth from me! I am not beholden to anyone. Now for all the politicians out there who want to sound like they care about a given issue…we all know you don’t so just be honest! Society and your constituents deserve such! No more BS.

NUMBER 5: Racing through the Weekend! This weekend will be a fun one of sorts. I am running the one mile kids fun run tomorrow night with my daughter and on Sunday, injuries and time notwithstanding, I am running a half marathon. I am particularly excited about the one mile race because my 8 year old daughter is. The half on the other hand is another story….body is just not feeling right. Game time decision?
